To help understand your relationship and humanity’s relationship to health, I’ve defined the influences of health into the following groups:
- Independent Health: Health you can allow for yourself.
- Interdependent Health: Health which is achieved through cooperation with your fellow humans.
- Dependent Health: Health which you depend on others for, such as scientists, researchers and doctors.
- Impossible Health: Health which cannot be achieved by oneself or by anyone else.
The suggestion I offer is that people start with what they can do for themselves first – Independent Health – and only move on to Dependent Health if that alone isn’t enough. In other words, what health and wellbeing can we achieve through our own self-honouring, without having to visit the doctor or the hospital?
